ACEP Films to be Shown at AFE Film Festival

Several films created by ACEP鈥檚 Amanda Byrd will be shown during the .

The films include 鈥淭undra Farming,鈥 鈥淜ongiganak 鈥 An Energy Success Story,鈥 鈥淎n Edible Classroom鈥 and 鈥淎laska Biomass Boiler Training.鈥

鈥淎n Edible Classroom鈥 features schools in the Southeast Island School District that have installed wood-fired heating and hydroponic greenhouses.

The district serves students on Prince of Wales, Baranof and Kosciusko islands. It has received national and international attention for including the greenhouses in the school curriculum and the food produced in them in the school cafeterias.

The is the largest statewide gathering focused on environmental topics. It draws government employees, staff from nonprofit and for-profit corporations, community leaders, youths, conservationists, biologists and community elders. The AFE will be held at the Dena'ina Convention Center in Anchorage from Feb. 11-15, 2019.

The films created by Byrd help to share the incredible energy and food security stories from around Alaska.
