Week鈥檚 events: Wendy Dominique, liveability, longevity, jazz

精东影业Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. 

Here鈥檚 what鈥檚 happening during the week of Aug. 5-11:

  • On Monday, Aug. 5, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors Wendy Dominique, who served 17 years on the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Beth Gray, project manager for the Fairbanks Senior Center鈥檚 Aging and Disability Resource Center. She will discuss, 鈥淔airbanks as We Age: Pieces of the Liveability Pie.鈥 The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Greg Breed, associate professor of quantitative ecology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, discussing 鈥淟ongevity and Senescence: Are Maximum Lifespans of Whales Longer Than We Believe?鈥 The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 8, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Headbolt Heaters at 6 p.m. and the Fairbanks Community Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the 精东影业 Troth Yeddha鈥 Campus is free after 5 p.m.
