Edward Tinajero is a dedicated individual with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (2017) and a Master's of Business Administration (2020) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Since his arrival in Fairbanks, Edward has consistently demonstrated his passion and commitment by serving in various student employee and staff positions within the university. As the Operations Manager at the Center for Student Engagement, Edward's expertise lies in change management, skillfully adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the university environment. Edward oversees the Information Desk, Polar Alley, and the Wood Center building operations.

Christi Kemper

Sustainability Coordinator

Christi was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and moved to Alaska in 2010. She has been helping ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ students incorporate sustainability into campus life and the greater community since 2013 and is honored to work for one of the most unique and student-driven sustainability programs in the country. The Office of Sustainability currently houses the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Recycling pickups program, the Green Bikes shop, the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ FreeStore, the Wood Center Food Pantry, the Upcycle Annex, and the Nanook Grown program.  If you have an idea to make the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ community more sustainable give her a call - she'll let you know how to make it happen!

Gretchen Bates

Assistant Director of New Student Orientation

Gretchen relocated to Fairbanks in the Spring of 2023 from the Raleigh, North Carolina area. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Education in Student Affairs from Clemson University. As the Assistant Director of New Student Orientation at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, Gretchen leads the orientation programs for all incoming students, including first-year, transfer, online, and graduate students, as well as overseeing the parent and family orientation initiatives. Passionate about fostering an inclusive and supportive community, Gretchen is dedicated to ensuring every student at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ feels a strong sense of belonging.

Ray Alda

Student Activities Coordinator

Ray is a first-generation Filipino-American from Anchorage, Alaska. She first came to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ in 2017 for her undergraduate studies and worked as a student ambassador at the Office of Admissions, where she eventually became an admissions counselor in 2021. In her role as the Student Activities Coordinator, Ray hosts various activities and programming for all ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ students throughout the academic year and advises the Traditions Board. While working at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, Ray found her passion for working with students and helping them build a community through meaningful connections and experiences.

Victoria moved to Fairbanks in January of 2025 and quickly found her home with ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ. She is passionate about supporting students and helping them make the most of their college experience. With a background in project management, organizational theory, and leadership development, she is here to guide and empower student leaders, ensuring AS ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ government and media run smoothly and effectively serve the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ community. When not working with students, you can find her exploring the Alaskan outdoors with her camera in hand. Samuel Henderson

Esports Coordinator

Meet Samuel Henderson! He made the exciting move to Fairbanks in the Summer of 2025, coming from Evansville, Indiana, to step into his role as the Esports Coordinator at the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ( ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ). Passionate about leadership and growth, Samuel is dedicated to ensuring that students at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ have the opportunity to make lifelong memories through community, competitions, and career development opportunities. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University and is pursuing a Master of Science in Leadership from the University of Evansville. As the Esports Coordinator at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Samuel oversees all aspects of the Esports program's development, including facility renovations, equipment acquisition, player and support staff recruitment, community engagement, and project planning.

Katrina DeKrey

Student Leadership and Involvement Coordinator

Katrina, originally from Gainesville, Florida, moved to Fairbanks in 2024. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Florida and an MS in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Florida International University. As the Student Leadership and Involvement Coordinator at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, she manages student organizations, the volunteer program, and leadership development initiatives. Katrina is dedicated to helping students connect with campus and community, fostering their growth into future leaders. Beyond her role in SLI, she works with ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ's track and field and cross country teams, as well as high school track athletes in the Fairbanks area.
